NEW APPOINTMENTS

WELLINGTON, Last Night,
On the retirement of Mr E. C. Mow--1 brav, accountant to the Treasury, on the 31st itist., Mr A. 0. Gibbes, now chief clerk, will become accountant and Mr J. J. Esson will be promoted to bo chief clerk. Mr John McLean, of Caroline, Southland, has been appointed a member of the Board of Land Purchase Commissioners, under the Land for Settlement Act. Mr John P. Puttick, of Oamaru, has been elected a representative of the Second Division of the Railway Service on the Government Railways Superannuation Fund Board. There ■were eighteen candidates.
