ETERNAL PUNISHMENT.
Quite a flutter lias been created in orthodox circles by the pronouncement of the Rev. J. G. Chapman, a Methodist clergyman of Wellington, on the subject- of etwial punishment. The iter. Chapman .appears to have adapted his views to the dictates of common sense and reasoii'ii£. He refuses to believe that all the Contained in the Bible are intended to 'be taken in their literal sense. He does what, a great many other people refuse to do—ho thinks for himself, lit is not everybody who will arrive at the same conclusions as he does upon the subject of the punishment of sin, but he is deserving of commendation for .bringing modern thought to hear upon the treatment- of a complex subject.
