THE VICTORIOUS TRIUMPH. WONDERFUL. &500BD OF SUO» OESSES ON TRIUMPH MOTOR CYCLES. At the H.B. Motor Cycle dub's sports held on the Hastings Racecourse on Boxing Day, the Triumphs again practically -wept the board. Out of an entry of 12 machines representing 5 different makes the Triumphs secured ten firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds out of a possible eleven events. This performance is all the more remarkable when it is considered tihat the Triumphs had to concede [large handicaps to machines of equal power and six of the ten first, machines were ridden by amateur riders. On Saturday, December 30fch, Mr ,J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make, an attempt on the existing figures of the Wellington to Napier recordviz., Bhrs 35min., established by Ma H. L. Schaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909, also on a Triumph. In, spite of several attempts on other makes of machines, tin's record has' stood to the credit of the Triumph for three years. Mr Bratihwiaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's Dny, and arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., has time being 6hrF. 38min., Ibweirtng the previous record by nearly 'two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, the only two stops being to take in petrol and oir. It is only perfect machines made from the finest material procurable that can average 33J miles an hour over 230 miles of New Zealand roads. _ Those who were at the Napier Post Office at the finish courd not beTp but remark on the perfect conditaon of the machine at the finish.
