ST. PATRICK'S DAY
CELEBRATION IN WELLINGTON.

WELLINGTON, Last Night
- St. Patrick's Day was celebrated on Saturday by a procession and sports in the Newtown Park. The weather was, perfect. Mass was said at nine o'clock, (Dean 'Regnault preaching- a seranon appropriate to the occasion. ■At the conclusion of the service, a procession was formed, headed by Jupp's Band, and assisted by the St. Anne's Cadet Drum and Fife .Band. Among those who marched were the St. Patrick's College Cadets, the Marist (Brithers' Cadets, and Catholic Club. A feature of the procession was an Irish jaunting car, in -which was seated Mr M. Bohan, father of the H.A.C.8.5., who founded the Wellington branch in 1874. Among those ■present at the sports were Archbishop Redwood, Archdeacon Devoy, Dean Regnault, (Father O'Shea (Vicar-Gen-eral), Dr Kennedy (Rector cf St. Patrick's College), Sir Joseph and Lady Ward and Miss Eileen Ward, and Sir James Carroll. A. programme of sports waa gone through, including ■a display of club and dumbell exercises by the pupils of the Sacred Heart Convent. An Irish national concert will be held in the Town Hall on Monday evening.
