7 KING OF ITALY SHOT AT
WOULD-BE REGICIDE ARRESTED
ROME, March 14,
King Victor Emmanuel, on leaving the Palace to attend a memorial service to his father, the ace King Humbert, in the Pan'Jheon, had several shots fired at him by a man. All the shots missed their mark. The man was arrested.
THREE SHOTS FIRED.
ARRESTED MAN IS ONLY 21 YEARS OF AGIE. f - (Received March 15, 10 a.m.) ROME, March 14. The King and Queen were in a closed carriage. "When the carriage -was passing along the Via Lato, ; a raan who had been sheltering behind <a pillar opposite the Palazzo Dona, iired t'hree shots from a revolver. He missed the carriage, but wounded Major Lang, the officer commanding the escort, in the neck, but not seriously. Major Lang fell from his horse, which was wounded by the third shot. The assailant is named Antonio Dalba. Ho is 21 years of age, and a typical Apache. The crowd almost lynched him before tiie police cucceeded in getting him away. The prisoner declared that he is an individual anarchist, and has no accomplices. The crime, he says, was in the nature of a protest against the organisation of society. Their Majesties visited Major Lang at the hospital. • A vast crowd gave them an ovation.
