Bates, of the Meteorological Office, this evening issued tho following rep'ort:— , The barometer rose rapidly during i Tuesday night, with strong southerly ■ winds and heavy rain in. most parts of the country. Considerable rain was reported to-day in tho north, and hazy and cloudy weather are also imueh in evidence. Present indications are for a falling ibarometer everywhere, with mild and changeable weather, increasing haze and cloudiness, showery in parts, and freshening northerly winds generally. I
