PALMERSTON N., Last Night. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Jolmsonville sale hs follows :-—A .heavy yarding of prime shec-p and cattle came forward, and readily sold at la to rates. Prime heavy bullocks, £9 17s (id to £lO 2s 6d; prime- bullocks, £9 7s 6d to £9 10s; light, £8 10s to £8 17s 6d; extra prime heavy ■wethers, 17s lOd to 18s; plain 14s 9d to 15s; prime heavy ewes, lis Gd to 14s lid ; plain, lis lOd to 12s 2d ; medium lambs, lis (5d to lis 9d; prime shorn Lambs, lis 9d; plain lambs, Ss (id to 9s Gd.
MAIIOH WOOL SALES. Messrs Dalgoty and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received cable information from their London office to the effect tfliat the March wool sales, which were postponed owing .to the coal strike, are now fixed for the 11th April, with a limit of 250,000 bales net-t new arrivals, provided the quantity be readied before the Bth day prior to the- opening of the sales. No wool arriving after .that date will be admitted. The third series opens on June 11th, limit, if any, to be fixed later.
MASTERTON STOCK SALES
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on. their. Masterton. stock sale, held in the Solway yards yesterday, as follows:—A good yarding of all classes of sheep were offered to a good attendance of buyers. Aged and inferior sheep were hard to sell, and prices .were- accordingly below late market rates. Good sheep, however, sold well. Following is & list of prices: —Small Jambs, 4s 6d to 5s 3d; f.m. enves, to 7s 5d ; woolly lambs, 8s to 8s 7d; sound mouth ewes, 10s 4d; 2-tooth ewes, 13s 8d; aged rams, 6s; Southdown rams, 1-Jgns. liomney rams, 1£ to 2sgns.
Messrs James Macintosh and Co. report having held their -usual weekly sale in their Waipoua yards, Masterj ton, yesterday, when they offered a I good yarding well ahove advertised numbers, and are pleased to report having had a good clearance at rather better rates than the last few weeks. Good ewes and lambs were well competed for, of which amongst our entries we offered on account of Mr Rob. ert Douglas, of Te Wharau, a good" line of owes, which fetched lis; on account of Mr Reg. Vennell, a. line which fetched lis sd; on account of Mr W. H. (Booth, a line of 2-tooths, which fetched lis 4d to 12s. The cattle entry was small, bxit everything was sold. Quotations are as follows: Fat ewes, 12s 4d to 13s; forward store ewes, 9s; f.m. breeding ewes, lis to lis sd; 2-tooth ewes, on account of Mr W. H. Booth, lis 4d to 12s; Kom-ney-Lincoln lambs, 5s 8d to 7s 8d; Mack face lambs, 6s 3d to 7s 'Bd; Southdown rams, Hgns to 2£gns; 18months heifers, £3 6s; 2-year old heifers, in calf, £5 2s; store cows, £2 17s 6d; weaners, 30s; dairv cows in calf, £5 to £3 17s 6d.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding their Masterton stock sale yesterday: —We offered an average yarding in sheep,- the quality of which was in most cases only medium. Only a few pens of first-class sheep were in the catalogue. For all sound stock there was a ready market, at rates fully up to recent sales. Inferior sorts were (practically neglected, and had to bo dealt with privately, all lots, however, changing hands...Cattle were represented by good calvers, which foxind a ready sale. The following is the general run of prices:— Good 4-year owes, up to 12s 4d; 2tooth, small, lis; medium ewes, 8a to 9s; aged, 6s; culls, 2s 6d to 4s. In lambs, good shorn, made up to 8s 7d; medium, 7s 6d; small, ss; woolly, 3s 2d to 9s; medium, 7s, 6s 3d; culls, 3s 6d to os; small wethers, 9s to 10s; good forward wethers, up to 13s 7d. In rams, all classes and ages offered, Downs ranging from | to 2gns; Lincolns. 1 to 2*gns; aged sorts, 7s to 9s 6d.
