IRELAND EASILY BEATS GRIFFIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.J NAPIEPv, Last Night, A largo number c.f spectators witnessed a boxing contest between Harney Ireland (Waipawa), champion middle weight of Aew Zealand (list 21b), and -lini Griffin (Greymouth), exchampion middle-weight of Australia I'llst 71b), in tho. Municipal Theatre at Wainawa to-night, for a purse of £4O. Fifteen three-minute rounds were to b > fought. The Ist round saw some vigorous boxing, both men mixing matters willingiy. took entire charge in the second round, Griffin being practically knocked out, when the referee, Tim Tracy, stopped the fight.
