On Saturday, December 30tk Mr J L Braithwaite left for Welkngton on his Triumph motor'cycle to make an attempt om the existing figures of the Wellington, to Napier reoovdviz., Bhrs 35min., by_Mr H. t. Schaeffer. on New Year's-Day, 1909, also on a Triumph. In Bpste of several attempts on other makes of machines, this record has' **<™| ij» the credit of. the Triumph for three I years. Mr Brathwaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on, New Year'® Day, and arrived at the Napier Poßt Office at 10.57 a.m., has. time being 6brs. 38min,, lowering the previous record by nearly two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to, finish, the only two stop* being to take in petrol and oil. it. is only perfect machines made flnom. the finest material procurable that. can average 33* miles an. hour over 230 milesi of New Zealand roads. Those who were at the Napier Post Office at the finish could not. help but remark on the perfect condition of the machine at thefinish. The Triumph is not only made for speed. It has proved itself to be the machine for hard work and long wear, and is perfectly adapted. toNew Zealand, roads.
