DESTRUCTIVE FIRE
IN BRISBANE.
810 BUILDING DESTROYED

BRISBANE, March 8. One of the most disastrous fires in the history of the city broke out late last night, when Fitzro'y.jCbambers, a six-storey building in Adelaide Street, in the heart of the city, was gutted. , The fire spread to a tailor's establishment adjoining, and was still burning early this morning, but was under control.
£65,000 DAMAGES.
COVERED BY INSURANCE
DAMAGE TO ADJOINING BUILDINGS.

The damage caused by fire in connection .with the Fitzrby. buildings is estimated. -\ atr£6s,ooo,\_the whole, of which" is covered by insurance: • 'Messrs Stewart and. Sons' big soft goods warehouse, adjoining the building, was drenched by the sprinklers, the damage to the,stock being serious. Other adjoining premise are damaged in a lesser degree by heat and water.
