The congregation of the Lansdowiie Presbyterian Church decided at a meeting held on Thursday last, to address a call to the Rev. J. S. Young, for the new charge of Lansdowne. Mr Young has acted for some time as supply at the Masterton Knox Church.
A cable message from Bermuda announces the death of General Sir. F. Kitchener, Governor of Bermuda, from appendicitis.
Dr. \ alintine, Inspector-general of Hospitals, was on an official visit to Masterton yesterday.
Mr David-Anderson., carter, of Masterton, is at present dangerously ill in the Masterton Hospital.
Mr H. R. Elder, formerly owner of Langdale station, ;bivfc now of Waikanae, is at present a visitor to theMasterton district.
ISews has been received from Queensland of the death from tvpihoid. fever of the eldest son of Mr William Harvey, of Whakataki. The deceased, who was 23 years of age, went to Queensland about two years ago. Much sympathy is felt for the parents .of 'the young man, who was highly respected in the district.
Mrs Grant, senr., of Bannock burr.. Gladstone, who met with rather sevce injuries in the accident to the Lon<>~ bush coach on Thursday, is progressing satisfactorily, according- to latest j-o7 port.
