BREACHES OF DEFENCE ACT
FURTHER ARRESTS AND IMPRISONMENT. (By TeUgraoh—Fress Association.) OHRISTCHUROH, Last Night. | There wore two further arrests this j morning for failure to pay fines in- | flicted for breaches of the Defence Act. Edward Henry Edwards, who foiled to pay .a fine and costs amounting to £2 10s, was taken to Lyttelton to work out the alternative of twenty-one days' imprisonment. Walter James Hooper, ( who failed to pay a similar fine, was taken in charge for a similar term. It is understood that warrants are ■out for the arrest of five others who ihavo broken the Act and failed to submit to the penalties inflicted by the magistrate.
