CRICKET TROUBLE
MEETING AT HOBART MR McELHONE THE STUMBLING BLOCK. CHAIRMAN ASKED TO RESIGN. (Received March 7, 11 a.m.) HOBART, March 7. The Mayor presided over a crowded meeting held in the Town Hall to discuss the cricket crisis. Mr Joe Hurling, an ox-Australian captain, attacked the Board of Control. He declared that while the Board is constituted as it is at present the trouble will never bo amicably sett-led. The Chairman, (Mr E. P. McElhone) had been a .stumbling ■ block all through. The Victorian and New South Whlcs members of the Board had bought over the Queensland representatives. They had met in caucus before the meetings and decided what would bo'done. It was not true that players had been working secretly with tho Melbourno Club. The following resolution was carried : "That -Mr MeElhone bo asked to resign the chairmanship of the Board of Control, las lie baa not .the confidence of the cricket supporting public or the players, and bis presence is a hindrance to an amicable settlement of the dispute.' Other motions similar to those pass, ed "by the Melbourne meeting were carried.
