ATTEMPTED INCENDIARISM

AUCKLAND, Last Night. The Aria correspondent of the Auckland Herald telegraphed late tonight that an attempt made to destroy the mail coach there by fire failed. Kerosene was sprinkled on boxes of butter in the coach, but the flames were extinguished with buckets of .water. An attempt was also made to blow up the local store, owned by the 'coach proprietor, but this also failed. Details are meagre, but detectives are investigating the case.
