ARNST AND BARRY
ENGLISH REPRESENTATIVE. (Received Last Night, 8.50 o'clock.) SYDNEY, March 7. Dick Arnst-has* received a cable from Mr Jim Field, agreeing to act for hira in negotiations for the race with Barry, and asking Arnst to send £IOO deposit. The Thames Rowing Chib has also cabled* inviting Arnst to train there. A third cable from Durnan, of Canada, asks Arnst to state terms for a mat-ch, no boat money. Arnst interprets this, that Durnan's backers want to offer him a fixed sum' to row on Lake Toronto, they taking all the proceeds of the steamers. Jn view of a race, Arnst states' that if Durnan wants him to stand out for a half share of the gate ,he wants £SOO expenses and a race for £SOO a-side. If he agrees to these terms, he will have to wait for the race till September, after Arnst meets Barry.
