DARING ROBBERY
I HOUSE RANSACKED OF WELL KNOWN JOCKEY. Last Night, 10.10 o'clock.) SYDNEY, March 7. Another daring burglary has taken place at the residence of Russell, a well-known jockey living at Kensington. Russell's brother was awakened early in the morning by a tap on the forehead, and saw three armed and masked men grouped round the bed, and a fourth standing outside the window. They demanded money, and ransacked the room, securing about £3O in money and jewellery, and then went to Russell's room, and covering him with their revolvers, made a similar demand. Russell handed over j £lO, his winnings at the races. \ The intruders carried electric lights and thoroughly overhauled, the house, regaling themselves with food and. drink, and reassuring the victims' wives that there was nothing to fear, and offered tJiem fruit and water, and on leaving warned them not to move or seek assistance, or they would know what to expect. They escaped in a } waiting sulky. j The police are investigating.
