THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. Admirers of the Yitagraph and American Biograpih works will to-night (have an opportunity of witnessing these populur artists in several of their la/test roles, as the neAv series at the Forestrs' Hall contains two dramas and two comedies from the A,B. studio and two comedies from the Yitagraph. In the first named, "The Trail of the Books" is a pretty story of a wayward wife and.mother, and in this picture we have somo very clever acting on the part, of ft Kiddie who brings happiness once again to her parents. In '-'The Failure" we see t'he paHhotic side of life, and an unfortunate man's unsuccessful efforts to gain headway in* tho world. In lighter vein by this company, "The Proposal" and "A 'Convenient 'Burglar" many amusing situations are introduced. "The Judge's Story," by Tamhausser, tells an a clear manner how an innocent lira 11 was saved from dishonour and shame. "Perils of the Plains," by Kalein, is an exciting drama of the early settlers' trouble with the Indians, 'and the many hardships they had to endure. Vita«raph's comedies, "The Wager," and "Over tho Chaffing Dish," aro more than good, while the other comics include .our old friend, "Foolshcad." The Pathe Gazettes,' English and Australian..Ri'e just as interesting, wlhite "Minor Traders m *he Malay" is another of Pathe s coloured successes. "British Birds oi Prey" shows us many fine specimens of the fcatihared tribe. The children s matinee will take plonc on Saturday
