DECLARED OFF ASSURANCES GRANTED. SPEECH BY MR COYNE. (Received Last Night, 8.35 o'clock.) BRISBANE, March 6. Tlho Strike Committee has declare,! the strike off. Mr Coyne is officially lannouncing tho decision. Ho said that the trades itill out, including the wharf labourers and coal miners, would resume tomorrow. Tho Committeo was enabled •to take this step because it had received an assurance from the Employers' ■Federation that there would bo no victimisation, and also an, assurance from the southern- transport Unions that they would stand by tho Brisbane Un.ion'for six months, if necessary. The announcement was made to a large g).vt!!ieriiig of strikers. In a later speech, Mr Coyne claimed that tihey had fought probably the best dndusitni.il fight in the world's history. BBiISBANE, March 0. Mr Coyno asked the tramwaymen and tho railwayman to remain solid, and not apply for work at present, as they might take work from another Unionist. They had nothing to fear, as assistance was coming from all parts of the Commoinvcalth and New Zealand. The strikers will resume at 10 o'clock .to-morrow, or as early as possible. The Secretary of tho Employers' Federation has expressed his gratification thlat the strike is off, and lie hoped that business would, soon be in its normal condition. The tramway men decided by a majority of-16*to 1 to strike unless their grievances were remedied by the Arbitoat ion, Court. The .matter is now before the Court.
