BUCHANAN TESTIMONIAL
A representative meeting of delegales from local authorities appointed to take steps to recognise Mr Buchanan's gift of a Homo for Incurables to, the Wairarapa "Hospital District was held in the County Council's offices, Masterton, at noon on Wednesday. There were present,— Messrs Loasby and Trotman (Greytown Borough), H. Morison (Greytown Hospital Committee),- T. Feist and Hughan (Carterton Borough), J. McGregor (Wairarapa South County Council), J. Dawson (Eketahun a County Council), C. C Jackson (-Mmiricoville County. Council), J. B. Keith (Masterton Hospital Committee), E. C. Eton (Waira-ra-pa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board), and the Mayor of Masterton, Mr J. M. Coradine.
The Mayor of Greytown, Mr D. P. Loasby) was votcsl to the chair. Inopening the proceedings, Mr Loasby referred to the object which the promoters had in view, and detailed the steps taken up to the time of meeting- . .. It was resolved, on the motion ot Mr Eton, seconded by Mr C. 0." Jackson, that Mr N. D. Bunting be appointed secretary to the movement. After discussion, it was resolved that this meeting of representatives of local authorities take steps to recognise the work Mr Buchanan has done in providing a Home for Incurables for the Wairarapa Hospital District, and that Messrs Keith, Loasby, Efon, Teist and Coradine be appointed a sub-committee to interview Mr Buchanan in reference to the matter, and submit a report to the meeting later. The meeting then adjourned. On resuming at 3.15 p.m., the subcommittee reported the result of .their interview with Mr, Buchanan, after which it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Feist, seconded by Mr. Trotman, that the recognition take the form of a portrait in oils of. the donor. . '
..A sub-committee,, consisting of. Messrs Coradine, Eton and -.Keith,' was appointed for the purpose of endeavouring to arrange terms with MiFen ton. Art Master of the local Technical School, for the proposed portrait. The secretary was- authorised to get subscription lists printed, outlining, the object) which the promoters have in view, and to issue copies of same to the various local bodies in the Wairarapa Hosnital District. On the motion of Mr .Eton, seconded by Mr Trotman, the Mayor of Masterton (Mr Coradine) was appointed treasurer of the fund. It was further resolved that the money be banked as received to the credit of the Buchanan Testimonial Fund, and that the account be operated upon by the Treasurer and Secre-' tary. It was also resolved that Messrs Coradine, Eton, Feist and Lonsby constitute the Executive Committee, with power to act in reference to matters in connection with the movement. The meeting; adjourned after passing a vote of thanks to the chairman for presiding.
