To-day saw the most interesting exhibition of shooting at Trentham, during the present meeting, and rarely has there been a better display of marksmanship on the ground. The weather and men were at their best. Early in the day a baffling mirage spoiled the shooting to some extent, bat later on ,barring a few spasmodic gusits, the conditions were almost perfect. The Oca go match, at 800 yds, was the first of the long range events' in the Championship, and .the character of the work put in by the riflemen needs no further description than to say vhat there were no fewer than seven possibles, which led to the equal division of the first seven prizes. The Nelson Match, of 800 and 900 yards, showed a continuance of good shooting. At 800 yards, Falkner /Wellington'), N. Wiiloughby (Petone), Loveday (Woodville), and Marshall (Karori) made possibles. Lane made the possible at 900 yards, but with only 37 at 800 yds, he was out of the prize list. Marshall broke up at 900 yards, and he also was out of it. W. Cox (Auckland) and Soper (Napier) each got 4.9, and there were many other good scores. The Hawke's Bay and Taranaki matches will be fired to-morrow, these being the last of the Championship series, save .the King's Prize, in which the 50 highest aggregates will fire off at - 3.30 on Thursday afternoon.
