The Hon. C. H. Milla and Mrs Mills, who have been spending a few clays with Mr and Mrs Vivian Donald, Lansdowne, returned to Wellington yesterday afternoon. It is stated that Inspector Hill, of the Hawke's Bay Education Board, intends retiring next year. A Press message from Hokitika states that the body has been -recovered of the Rev. Lock, who along with; his sister was drowned somo weeks ago wlhile fording the Big Wanganui river. The body.was found two miies to the north of the river. The funeral of the late Mr W. H. Oates, of Alfred-ton, took place at Carterton yesterday,-the remains being interred in .the private burial ground at the homestead, Parkvale. The impressive service was conducted by the Rev. It. Young, of St. Mark's. Settlers from Alfredton and all parts of Wairarapa were present to show a. lasit token of respect to the deceased. Mr J. H. Board, the Gloucestershire County professional cricketer, who has been under engagement as coach to the Hawke \s Bay Cricket Association for the past season', leaves to-day for England.
