CANADIAN CABLE
BRITISH CO-OPERATION RETUSED.
PROBABLE FLOTATION OF COMPANY. ! (Received Last Night, 3.5 o'clock.) OTTAWA, March 2. The Postmaster-General has announced in the House of Common:, that the British authorities have refused to co-operate in a State-owned cable for Canada. The Dominion is unable itself to embark on a State-owned cable, owing to the excessive cost, and the large demands made on the Treasury at present for Home development. Mr Pelletier hoped I that a new Company, British owned, would be established, to control the Atlantic service.
