FREEZING SHEEP
FURTHER MASTER*©!* AWARDS. j At the recent ©how of th> Masterton A. and P. Association, one of the competitions in the freezing; classes was for five long wool \or long wool cross wethers under 21 months, most suitable for freezing and the-; London 1 market. The sheep wore to Bo- judg- j ed at the show, and then killed and, further awards- made. Air the show the competition resulted as follows: — John Strang 1 and 2, H. H. Beetliam--3 and h.c., W. C. Buchanan v.li.c. The awards made when tlie> sheep- had been killed were as follows: John Strang 1 (this sheep being first in the other competition), H. H.. Beetliam 2> (third at the show), W. H*. Beetham 3' (unplaced at the show). Another competition' under similar conditions was also held, this time for-five lambs. The following awards were made after the sheep had been killed:— H- H. Beetliam first (h.c. at show), W. Perry second (first at' show), W. H. Beetliam third (unplaced), W. C. Buchanan and W. H. Beet-ham fourth (both unplaced in former competition), W, 0. Buchanan and W. Perry fifth (both- unplaced). Mr H. H. Beetham's sheep (pen No. <4:89), which were second at the show, Mr J. C. McKillbp'"s sheep (pen No. 492), which were third, and Mr John Strang's sheep (pen No. 498), which obtained a v.h.c. t'eket, were all unplaced in the second competition. The sheep were killed at the Waingawa meat works and graded by iMr S. Bishor>.
The judging' competition held in .connection with the five freezing lambs class ivsulted as follows, the awards having been made known yesterday : P. Southey, Penrose, 1; C. S. Hay, Kourarau, ; H. Montgomery, M'asterton, 3; J. Tarbit, Penrose, 4; Jtos. Strang, Gladstone, 5.
