VALEDICTORY
Mr A. Cowper, of the Mastertoii .Post Office staff, who leaves Masterton to-day, to take up a position in Te Karaka post office, was entertained last evening, in St. Matthew's Schoolroom, by a number of friends. Mr W. Hornblow presided, and on behalf of the St. Matthew's Hockey Club and other friends, made a presentation to Mr Cowper, and referred to the very high esteem in which the recipient was held by all -who knew "'.him, and expressed the hope that Mr
Cow.per would meet with eve-Vi: success in his new position. During the ev- !■;. ening toasts were given by tlie ' chairman, and Messrs A.. Miller. X. Boyd, A. Levien, C. Cole, and TC. Batters, and songs were rendered by Messrs Cole,- Cooper, A. Cowper, A. Dixon, W. Horn blow. W. Bosson, F. Tru.seott and. S. Kingdon. Mr F. MeKenzie kindly played the accompaniments to the various vocal items.
