Shackleton, interviewed, declared that Captain Scott should leave MacMurdo Sound on 10th February, and reach Stewart Island three weeks later, but Captain Amundsen, having a helping wind, should reach Hobart earlier. Probably Lieutenant Filchner, with the German expedition, would be ice-bound in the Weddel Sea, but if not imprisoned, he should arrive at Punta Arenas or at Buenos Ayres in April.
