WAR ESTIMATES

CABLENEWS (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)

INCREASE OF £170,000 DUE TO GROWTH OF AVIATION. (Received Last Night, 9.15 o'clock.) LONDON, February 28. In the House of Commons, during the discussion of the War Estimates, the total for which is £27,860,000, it was stated that the increase of £170,000 was entirely due to the growth of aviation, on which £308,000 was spent, as compared with France's £1,280,000. The War Office intends to establish a joint Army and Navy Aviation School, on the Salisbury Plains. The whole expeditionary force will shortly be equipped with pointed 'bullet ammunition, and with resighted, rifles. 'No satisfactory automatic rifle has been produced, therefore the War Office is testing a new pattern magazine rifle. .
