MR MASSEY'S WITHDRAWAL.

Mv W. F. Massey, Leader of the Re-1 form Party, has pursued the honourable course in withdrawing the imputation he would appear to have cast against certain members of the House on Friday night. The extract from the letter he read was of a private nature, and it should not have been used in the course of debate, unless the name of the author was forthcoming. Mr Massey no doubt acted on the spur of the moment, and not thinking that ho was .'doing more than corroborating a statement mad© by a colleague. It was unfortunate that he''should-have allowed himself to be dragged into the position, which was immediately pounced upon by his opponents and . construed into a breach of privilege. Mr Massey has made the amende honourable, and the dignity of the House has been vindicated.
