The annual meeting of subscribers to the Masterton Technical "School, was held last evening, in the school building, for the purpose of appointing managers for the ensuing year. Mr W. H. Jackson was voted to tho chair.
In moving tho adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, Mr Jackson referred to the excellent work done by the school during tho past year, and considered that the report was the best yet presented by the managers, of the school. He specially emphasised the excellent results from the wool, plumbing and dressmaking classes, which enabled young men and women of Masterton to qualify iii branches of instruction which they would not otherwise have been able to attain. He also referred to the good work done in the commercial, building construction and book-keeping classes during the year, and congratulated the managers, > and all those connected with the school, ,on tho excellent attendance at the various classes, which averaged 75 per cent, throughout the year. He complimented the staff on the excellent work which they had done, and considered that the discipline andgeneral tone of the school was of a very high order, which was a fact the school had to be congratulated upon. *
Last year the managers had endeavoured to arrange for the holding of a veterinary class, but as there was no-, 'public response, it was decided to drop the matter. This year, it was hoped that this branch of instruction would %■&. introduced earlier. In concluding, he wished to congratulate the'staff, the managers and the public on the splendid report of the work done during -the, past year, and the new managers would have an excellent start for the new year's work.
Mr E'. G. Eton, in seconding theadoption of the report, thought that Masterton was to be congratulaed on having such an excellent institution, and also on the splendid work done by th& staffs and. classes- diiting the past year, and he hoped, that., the peopje>'of'Masterton wouM'sJibw-theiY appreciation ,hy;jit«kHi{v a liyk inierejsfc' iri ; the : woA;qi^e.;sehool.^ : : '. ~ ■ Mr m supporting-the adop-,:' tioii" ,'report,',' said he regretted that the people of-Masterton did not take more interest in the Technical School than was evidenced by s the small attendance present. He, however, was glad that the young people of the town and country districts showed-•■■their interest by %heiiv.splendr ■• id attendances during the year. He thought they were fortunate in hav-" ing such a capable staff of teachers, and were to be congratulated on having such practical and experienced men on the Board of Managers as Mr Jackson, and a capable secretary in Mr Bunting. He emphasised the.-, value which would result from the introduction of a veterinary class, and hoped that in the new year this class would be arranged for, as ho was sure it would be of great advantage to the farming community and the public generally. Mr Jackson,' in asking for nominations for managers for the ensuing year, stated that he wished to stand down, but Messrs E. G. Eton, C. E. Danioll and H. J. O'Leary urged him to remain in the position which he had so very ably filled during the number of years he was- connected with the institution. v Mr Cpradine thought that the present flourishing state of the Technical School was duo greatly to the amount of work done by Mr Jackson. MrJacks on thanked the 'speakers for their eulogistic references to. himself, and consented to be nominated one of the managers for the ensuing year.

He would be pleased to give the. best of his powers to further the interests of tin* school. Mr E. (!. Eton also referred to the absence of the public that evening, but thought it was rather a compliment to the managers, as it showed that the people of Maserton were quite satisfied.to leave the conductingof the institution in their hands,, which he (Mr Eton) considered verycapable.
