FIRST ANNUAL STUD SALE. The first annual rtud ram sale under t-h© auspices of the New Zealand IRomney Marsh Breeders' WffiS EeW on the Solway sliQWgrounds gnesterday. There was a large and interested gathering of buyers from lall parts of the Dominion. Prior to the sale, the sheep were judged by Messrs Holms and. Beat-tie, two competent judges from the South Island. All the best breeders of the North (island were represented, there being no fewer than, sixty-one entries in ! the class ifor single shearling ram. The Breeders' Association gave special prizes of £3, £2 and £1 in each class. The first prize for shearling ram fell to Mr E. Short's Record Breaker M 45., Mr Short's Record E4 was second, Mr G. E. Allen's Tainua third, Mr J. E.' Hewitt's jyitry £ ;>urth, and Mr . lorry's fifth. The cla=.s -altogether was a particularly gcod •one, and the judges spoke \v<U of the waning slwp. In th) c :iss for l\vo-shc;ir '•til i rams there were ten entries, and the first prize was awarded to Mr P. Mungavin's No. 158. The judges did not consider any of the remaining entries worthy of a prize. Prizes were also given for pens of live flock rams. There were ten entries, and the prizes were allotted as Follows:—" P. Mungavin, 1; G. 11. Sykos, M.P., 2; W. B. Allen, 3. •Messrs It. Gray and J. E. Hewitt acted as stewards for the Romney Marsh Breeders/ Association, and ■ Messrs R. Cooper, W. Perry and W. 11. Watson for the Masterton A. and P. Association.
