FIRST ANNUAL STUD RAM SALE
! .;. The New Zealand Romney Marsh Sieep Breeders' Association .will hold its initial annual stud ram sale to-day at the Masterton A. and P: Society's grounds at Solway. This is the first sale of the kind to be held in the Dominion,, and it'is the"'purpose of the Association to hold an annual stud ram salo at a different centre each year, with the idea of giving Romney breeders an opportunity of comparing the best class of studs from year to year. The sale today will include .studs by the best known breeders in the North and iSowiih Islands, entries having been received from Messrs Gray Bros., Wm. Perry (Masterton), W. C. Lovelock and Son (Gore), W. B. Allen '(Clarevilie), E. J. -Wilson (Joluisonville), G. E. Allen (Masterton), Smith Bros. (Linton), J. E. Hewitt (Mangamaire), Wm, Rayner (Masterton), A. L. Wheeler (Halcombe), E. Short (Feilding), and a number of other wellknown breeders. •Tho'Association is donating special prizes for the best shearling and twovshear stud rams entered for the sale. It is also giving three prizes of £5, £3 and £2 for the best pen of five flock r-ams entered a,t the ram fair. Tho sale will bo conducted, by. Masterton stock firms, and will be under tho control of stewards appointed by the A. and P. 'Association and tho Sheep Breeders' Association. Messrs Seattle and Holms, of the South Island, willy judge tho competitions. The entries' comprise seventy-one lots, and tho class of stock entered is'such that _thero is almost sure to be keen and spirited bidding.
