THE VICTORIOUS TRIUMPH.
WONDERFUL RECORD OF SUCCESSES ON TRIUMPH MOTOR CYCLES. At bhe-H.B. Motor Cycle Club's sports ihekl on the Hastings Racecourse on Boxing Day, the Triumph* again practically swept the board. Out of an entry of 12 machines representing o different, make* the Triumph* secured ten firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds out of a possible eleven events. This performance is all the more remarkable when it is considered tihat the Triumphs had to concede large handicaps to machines of equal power and six of the ten first machines were ridden by amateur riders. On Saturday, December 30th, Mr J. L. Braithwait'e left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make an attempt on the existing figures of the Wellington, to Napier record—' viz., Bhrs 35min., established by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on New Year's .Day, 1909, also on a. Triumph. In. spite of several attempts on other makes of machines, this record has stood to the credit of the Triumph for three years. Mr Brtftihraite left the Welimgton Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's Day, and arrived at tlie Napier Post Office at. 10.57 a.m., his time being Gfrrs. 38min., Toweortmg the previous record by nearly two 1 -hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, the only two stops being to take in petrol and on. It is only "perfect machines made from the finest material procurable that oan average 33£ miles an hour over 230 milesi of New ZeaJliand roads. Those who were at the NapieT Post Office at tie finish couTd not fai&lp but (remark on the perfect condition of the machine at the taron. The Triumph, is not only made; far speed.
