THE SHOW AND ITS GROWTH.
The twenty-fifth annual show of the Master ton A. and P. Association opens on the charming grounds at Solway to-day. The history of the Association lias so often been written, and its development so. frequently described, that its reiteration would bo a surplusage of language. It is suffi- j cient to say that the Association, during tlio quarter of a century it has been in existence, has had a varied career. In recent years, however, it has developed' into .an institution of great importance to the breeders of the Dominion. It has, in fact, come to 'be recognised as the premier fat stock show of the North Island. The acquisition of the beautiful Solway grounds, so close to the town and so convenient to the railway,, was the crowning effort of the progressive movement 011 the part of an enthusiastic band of settlers. It is not a matter for surprise, therefore, that nearly every stock-breeder in the lower portion of the North Island, and several from the South, have brought the pick of their flocks and Ileitis to Masterton. The holdinggrounds near the railway have proved a grea't convenience to exhibitors, and .the sheep pavilions and liorse" stalls are much appreciated. The abundance of water and green feed available is commented upon in eulogistic terms by visitors, as is also the provision of accommodation on the grounds for stock attendants.
