The weather was dull and cloudy for tho continuation of the match between the Englishmen and New South Wales, and light showers fell, but did not seriously affect the wicket. The attendance was 4200. Gregory and Bardsley resumed to the bowling of Barnes and Foster, and the first century was hoisted in 91 minutes. Barnes and Foster bowled well, but - could not get wickets, and the scoring -was slow. On Douglas relieving Barnes, the scoiing improved, and Gregory reached 50 after being at tho wickets for 146 minutes. He passed Trainper's score shortly afterwards by hitting. Douglas for four. Ho received an ovation.

Hazlitt was the next to go, being caught by Woolley off Vine, with the score 7 for 257. After passing the century, Gregory opened out, and scored with great freedom.
