THE. VICTORIOUS TRIUMPH. WONDERFUL RECORD OF SUCCESSES ON TRIUMPH- MOTOR CYCLES. J At the H.B. Motor Cycle Club's sports iheld on the Hastings Racecourse on Boxing Day, the Triumphs again practically swept the -board. Out of an entry of 12 machines representing 5 different makes*'the Triumphs secured ten firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds-out of a possible eleven events. This performance is all the more remarkable when ifc is ,consiflered tlhat the Triumphs had to concede large handicaps to machines of equal power and six of the ten first machines were ridden by amateur riders. On Saturday, December 30th, Mr J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make an attempt oni the existing figures of the Wellington to Napier recordviz., Bhrs 3omin., established by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909, also on ft Triumph. In, spite of several attempts on other makes of machines, this record has stood to the credit of the Triumph for three ■years. Mr Bratlwiaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. cm New Year's Day, and arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., has time being 6hrs. 38min.., Towering the previous record by nearly two hours. The Trkimph ran perfectly from start to finish, the only two stops being to take in. petrol and oil. It is l only "perfect machines made flrom the finest material procurable that can average 33J miles an hour over 230 miles "of New ZeaOland roads. t Those who were at the Napier Post Office at the finish couTd not help but a-emark on the perfect condition of the machine at the finish.
