MISS MARIE BAINES.
Masterfon is threatened hv what managerial eulogy describes as « a . tornado of laughter" this week, when Miss Marie Haines, a wellknowir and popular English comedienne, will produce in the Town ■ Hall 011 Saturday night a two-act comedy with music, entitled, "Miss Lancashire, Limited." The play makes no pretensions to seriousness or philosophy, and it was not even written bv Plato or Socrates. AH it sets out frankly to do is to give an evening's irresponsible merriment. Judging Bv the notices in the metropolitan "and other newspapers it amply justifies this object. The burden of the entertainment lalls to the comedienne herself, whom the Dunedin Star characterises as "versatile, winsome and fiever to an exceptional degree."
