RECIPROCITY
NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA. CLOSER COMMERCIAL RELATIONS. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received February 6, 10.50 a.m.) MELBOURNE, February 6. The Federal Government has decided to act along the lines indicated by the Hoik A. Fisher (Prime Minister) in connection ivitlh securing a closer .relation with New Zealand as soon as politics in the Dominion are more settled. It is "believed that at first the reciprocity will be rest/jcted to defence and com.mere.ial relations. Mr Fisher stated that action will be taken on the lines of the motion passed at the Hobart Labour Conference. He considers that a defence agreement should be made between the Commonwealth and the Dominion as practically an immediate step towards closer political relations. Senator Pear'ce has instructed "the captain of the Naval College to prepare particulars of a proposal for training New Zealand cadets.
