MAN FOUND DEAD

A. . jMU, ca nwid -Thomas ■- Heeligan-, who hail been living for, the past, two or three days in" a firemen's batch near the Gladstone Pier, at Lytt-el-ton, was found dead .i,n . his. bed: H.eeligan, who had had a somewhat chequered career, had 1 "been employed as a trimmer on. the ferry steamer Maori, but' oil Saturday night he complained of feeling unwell, and did not go away in the vessel. He took r,p his quarters at the batch, and jxiE.t before retiring last night he told one cf his mates that he was bad, and was given a nip of gin. He went to bed, and evidently died- in his sleep. His mate went to. call him this morning, but getting- no - answer found Heeligan dead.
