AMUSEMENTS

THOMPSON-PAYNE PJCTURES. A goodly array of pictorial wonders ! has been selected for this evening's change at the. Foresters' Hall, and . this -series 'should prove one of the ■ .most interesting .yet. shown. In Se-, ligfs . splendid nautical ; production | "dhe Heart of John Barlow," we see i some fine work by this popular company. The. story shows the fervent, devotion of a simple fisherman, and is ' taken on the coast of California, i midst all its rugged beauty. A fine ; military drama powerfully acted and | presented with that thoroughness which is always a strong characteristic of the Taimhauser Company, will be seen in "The Colonel and the King,'.' and another by the same artists is "The Coffin Ship, or a Tale of the Sea." "Champions of the Indian Arena" is as novel a piece of i sport as ever was served up for the edification of mankind, and must excite an interest equally keen to that aroused by that most famous contest between gloved champions. The arena-' is set near the Palace of Baroda and a number of pri/ze elephants fight with .great vigour. Another film, "Portuguese Centaurs'," j fully displays the wonderful pluck, j the fearless riding, and dreadfful falls experienced by both men and horses. The third series of the "Delhi Durbar" is again a magnificent sight in its splendour and beauty. The comedies by Latbin are creators of la.ughs, "Mandy's Social Whirl" and "The Governess" taking the lead. Other pictures worthy r.f'note are "Birds of a Feather," "The Marked Dollar," (drama), "A Misunderstanding," "The Falls of Klfkarlo," and "Tommy Becomes an Actor." On Thursday night next, Nat Gould's famous sporting drama, "The Event." will be shown for the first time, and will be graphicallv described by Mr Alf Boothman. ' The firm notify their patrons that they have contracts signed giving them tlie exclusive .rights'for all the productions of tho leading manufacturers in tho world.
