On Saturday, December 30th, Mr J. Ji. Braithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make an attempt ora the existing figures of the Wellington to Napier record—viz., Shrs. 35m™., ostablrslbed by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909; also oa a Triumph. In. spite of, ' several, attempts on other'-makes of I machines, this record has stood to the credit of the.Triumph.for three ryears. Mr Brathwaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. o» I New Year's Dav, amd arrived at the I Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., his I time being 6hrs. 38min.., Towerning the I The Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, the only two stops being to take in petrol ; and oil. ,It is only perfect machines made from the fimest material procurable that can average 33$ miles an hour over 230 miles of New Zeaflland roads.
