YESTERDAYS MEETING. There was a full meeting of the Board at yesterday's meeting. The financial statement showed a credit of £3OO 7s lOd. The Minister for Education notified -that the proposal to establish a District High Senool at Eketohuna had been approved. The announcement was received with satisfaction by members of the Board.
The Officer Commanding the Junior Cadets notified tihat students in the (Normal School were exempted from, service in,' the Territorials."
The free pkoe of a Junior Board scholar was cancelled through, irregularity of attendance. >
_ The Wairarapa South County Council advised that the footbridge over the Waingawji river at Kaituna would be repaired. It was decided to thank /the Council.
L. Thompson, a Masterton lad,, requested permission to be able to take up. the second year of his scholarship in 1913 instead of this year. It was pointed out that the method under which the scholarship grants were ,'made did not-'.'.permit of this being; done. Mr Vile explained the cireum-; (Stances of the case, and it was decided that application be made to the Department for permission .to i vary the as desired. Jbsiah Beere was appointed a ' pupil teacher at Grey town, Margaret Hewat at-' Mangatamolva, and Jacqtrette Smythe at Feather sto,i. Catherine M. Rains was appointed. i'a probationer at Carterton, and J. T. Lineban at Rbngokokako.
The tender of Mr P. Jensen was accepted for the lease of the school reserve at Ifruraua.
The-tender of • Amis and Son was accepted for repairs at Clareville, and. that of C. Clifton for work at Mangatainoka school. . , /
The following grants were made for Wairarapa schools:— Greytown, spouting for residence, £9; Clareville, cupboards, shelter sheds, etc., £3B 10s.
It was decided that section 26' Block 111., Puketoi, be offered to Mr J. M. Morris for tease for ten years at the amount .of his tender.
Section 5, Block X., Mangaliao. is to be offered to Mr J. ISlliotit for lease for a period of ten years.
An offer in regard to the Mntaliiwi siJiool was referred to Messrs Buchanan, Fogg and Vile. ...
