EKETAHUNA DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.

<»—_ —' The news, that the proposal to estahlish a District High School at.Eketahuna has been approved by the Government, and that an immediate' start is to be made with, the secondary classes, will be welcome to settlers in the middle, portion, of the. Forty-Mile 'Bush:, The importance of this concession/has been so strongly represented by\ the Wairarapa members of the Board,- and by the local bodies of Eketahuna, that the Minister has been compelled l to yield. In a few months', time there is reason 4a hope Lihat.Ane new school site will be occu- ! pied iby a handsome kick building. j It is to be hoped that parents of the I district will show their appreciation ifahe new order of tiling .by securing; a' | regular and satisfactory attendance ] at the secondary classes. •

THE PREMIER'S INTENTIONS. A'Press Association telegram from Core states that Sir Joseph Ward intends resigning before the meeting of Parliament, and recommending the Governor to send for Mr Massey. This report is evidently well-founded., for it is corroborated by the usually well-informed "Dunedin Star." The Gore authority goes further, however, and states that the Hon. J. A. „—.ar.will retire from politics and that the Hon. T. Mackenzie will .immediately move "a resolution of nb-cori-■.adenee- in Mr Massey. -It is pretty generally accepted in Wellington that the Hon. Mr Millar intends retiring, but the report as to the no-confidence motion may be worth anything or mothing. If* Mr Massey were sent for before Parliament meets, be would most certainly be given, some days in which .to foriri his. Ministry, and a want of r confidence motion would merely be a test or the strength of tlie new Government, which everybody would expect. Meanwhile, the report concerning Sar Joseph Ward'* intentions kicks official confirmation.
