THE VICTORIOUS TRIUMPH. WONDERFUL RECORD OF SUCCESSES ON -TRIUMPH MOTOR CYCLES. At the H.B. Motor Cycle Club's sports held on the Hastings Racecourse on Boxing Day, the Triumphs again practically s-wept the board. Out of an entry of 12 machines representing 5 different makes the Triumphs secured ten firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds out of.a possible eleven events. This performance is all the more remarkable when it is> con&iflered .tibat- the Triumphs bad to concede large-handicaps to machines of equaJ power and six of the ten first machines were ridden by amateur riders. On Saturday, December 30th, Mr J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington i on his" Triumph motor cycle to make am attempt om the existing figures of the Wellington to Napier record—viz. Bhi-s 3om™., estaWislhed fey Mr H L. SchaeftVr on New Year's Day, 1909, also on a Triumph. In. spite of several attempts on other makes oi machines, this record ha& stood.to the credit of the Triumph for, tliree years. Mr Bratliwaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's Dav, aivci arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m.., fee time being 6hrs. 38min., IWettmg the previous record 'by nearly two hours.. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, the only two stop® being to take in petrol and oil. It k only perfect machines made from tfce finest material procurable that ran average &3J miles am hour over 230 miles of New Siealtomd roads.
