REPLIES TO MR BQNAR LAW ENGLISH GUNS THE FINEST IN THE WORLD. (Received Last Night, 9.55 o'clock.) LONDON, January 29. Lord Hr.idane, speaking at Gateshead in reply to Mr Bonar Law, said that the latter's references to the obsolete weapons was due to a casual remark oFLord Roberts, who had no opportunity of studying closely the Howitzer, which was the finest in the world, and the best field gun, witkjfce exception of the French TerritoWM field gun. The- howitzer was slightly heavier, but for most purposes as good as the German Regular field guns. He hoped that the new infantry rifle would prove the best in the world. The supply of horses had been greatly increased. The War Office was introducing changes, which'would bring about mechanical transport.
