THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES, j • The Foresters' Hall was crowded last evening with, a well satisfied audience of picture lovers. In addition to a really excellent programme was a special star film, in a well planned representation of the great Melbourne uetective story which' has been read; by. almost, everybody, "The Mystery cf a Hansom Cab." The exhi- . hition of this film, was accompanied • by 'a clever narration of! the" whole story by Mr Pootinmiatn, who is tra-> veiling with the film, round New Zealand. The details and various excit-' ing incidbnts in this clever ■ story were well reproduced,' and, combined with the rtckal cf the story, resulted,in the audierce,. deriving a greater ; amount of interest and excitement than would -o.theriM.se have been the ■case. By the reproduction of this unique film Messrs Thompson and Payne have added still another suc- / cess to theair already lengthv list of honours. A drama* from the Wald West, "A Cowboy s Bride,", wias a pretty little story unfolded during several sensational episodes. , "Wage and Wage-earner" showed 'how a young Jady ran away from her father's home because he wished .bier to mai'ry a certain maai. A rich young man, who idled his time away," made a bet. that he could work for a month without getting the sack. Both were employed at the same office. After becoming, acquainted they fell in love, ' and, .at the end oi the month, the wealthy youn# man a sited the girl to become his wilfe. The marriage took place just prior to the father finding , v his daughter's whereabouts. Other films >vere "Life and Life-savers" fdrama.), "Jimmy's Job," Delhi .Durbar Celebrations (second series), "The -Secret," and "Tweedledum's Autoskates" (comics).
