LONDON WOOL SALES. '.Phe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile' Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date '24 th hist., 'regarding the progress of the Ist series of wool sales: — As compared with last Hales' closing rates prices are higher by about par to 5 per cent for greasy crossbred, and lower hy about par to five per cent for merino medium and inferior. Prices are about the same for crossbred scoured, greasy merino super, crossbred slipe, scoured merino super and lambs. Greasy crossbred wool suitable for America is 5 per cent to 7 \ per cent higher. The sales progress firmly. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cabled advice from their London office: Wool sales: Sales continue active. Competition is brisk and buying general from all quarters, prices are rather higher, and for greasy crossbred wools suitable for America, prices are 21- per cent higher.
EKETAHUXA STOCK SALE. r . The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their Kketahuna. sale on Friday last as follows :—We offered a small yarding, consisting of good four and six-tooth ewes, and si few lines of cattle. Quotations : 4-tooth ewes, 15s 6d; 6-tooth ewes, 14s 6d; yearling steers, £3 2s tkl; store cows,,-£3 10s to £4 7s 3d; weaner calves, 21s to 255. . Messrs Dalgety and, Co., Ltd;, report: —A good entry of all classes of stock met with a ready demand, all lines with one exception being disposed of at auction, at prices in excess of late market rates. Following is a list of sales:—Sheep: Small lambs, 6s 7d to 10s; store ewes, 6s 8d to 8a Id; shorn lambs, to 8s 9d;. woolly lambs, &s lid and 9s. Gatftle: Mixed weaners, 20s; small yearlings, 365; 12 to 15 months heifers, £2 lis to £3 Is; aged cows aad calves, £3 2s; empty heifers, £3 12s; 15-months steers, £3'4s 6d to £3 14s; 2-year steers, £4 5s 6d; fat cows, £5 Is; 3-year steers; £5 4s; ■irrbwn-bullocks, £6 Ba.6d. Two nice Hues of well-grown 12 to 15 months Polled Angus steers offered on account of Messrs Anderson Bros, realised from £3 17s to £4 ss.
ALFKEDTON STOCK SALE.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:—A medium entry of sheep met with poor competition, but cattle, the principal entries of Vhidh were grown steers, were in good demand, and realised the following prices. heifers, to £3; heifers in calf. £4 10s; 3-year steers, to "£5; -4-year bullocks, £6 10s; forward conditioned buUoeks, to £.7 lis. A nice line of 50 3 and 4year old bultocß offered on account of the Alpass Estate realised £6 10s.
