Motor Cycle Club's sports held on the Hastings Racecourse on Boxing Day, the Triumphs again practically swept the board. Out of an entry of 12 machines representing 5 different make& the Triumphs secured ten firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds on* of a possible eleven events. This performance is all the more 'remarkable when it is oonsifiered tihat the Triumphs had to concede large handicaps to machines of equaJ , p©wer and six of the ten first maoh-1 mes were ridden by amateur riders, i On' Saturday, December 30th, Mr I J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington on liis Triumph motor cycle to make am attempt am the existing figures of the Wellington to. Napier record—viz., Bha-s 35min., established by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909, also on a Triumph. In, spite of several aitibe-mpts on other make's of machines, this record has l stood to the orediii} of the Triumph for three years. (Mr RiaJtihwaiAe left the Wellington. Post Ofiice at 4.20; a.m. on New Year's- Day, aJitt arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., his 'time being 6hrs. 38min.., Towering the previous record by nearly two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to fimah, the only two stops being to take in petrol and oil. It is oniv perfect machines made flrom tihe finest materia* procurable that oan. average 33fc miles am. hour over 230 miles, of New Zeallland roads. Those who were at . the Napier Post Office at the finish ooulH not help but remark on the perfect condition of the machine at the finish. The Triumph is not only made for speed. T.t has proved itself to be the machine for hard vwk and long wear, and is perfectly adapted to New' Zealand roads.
