Motor Cycle Club's sports held: on the Hastings Racecourse on Boxing Bay, the Triumphs again practically swept the board. Out of;;an entry of 12 machines representing 5 different makes the Triumphs secured ten. firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds oust of a possible eWea event®. This./performance is all the more remarkable when it is con&iflered •dhall the' Triumphs had to concede large handicaps to machines of equal power and six of the ten first, machines were ridden by amateur riders. On Saturday, December 30th, Mr J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph- motor cycle to make an attempt om the existing figures of the Wellington" to, Napier recordviz., "Bhrs 3omfn.', established by Mr H. X. Schneffer'on.New Year's Day, 1909, also oh a Triumph. In, spite of several attempts on other makes ;of machines', this record, has stood c ,to the credit of the Triumph, for three years. Mr Bratihwiaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's Day, and arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., his time being Gfors. 38miii., lowernoxg'tiie previous record .by nearly two hours. 'Hie Triumph ran perfectly from start to fimah, the only two stops being to take in petrol and oil.
