Miss Thelma Petersen, the wellknown Wairaraipa contralto, will shortly give a recital in Stratford. Mr and Mrs George Vosseler, of Newman,, leaves next month on a visit to tho Old Oountry. Mr W. A. Mr Waldegrave, Under-Secretary for Justice and Commissioner of < Police, is to retire at the end or March. He hopes to take ship for a trip to Britain in April. The Hon, J. A. Millar will return to Wellington from Taupo, where he has been spending a holiday next week. A very old resident of Auckland, Mr Jflimes Edmiiston, died at his residence. Ponsxinby, on Monday last aged eightv-four. Mr Edmiston was a. iiiative of 'Paisley, and arrived in Auckland irr November, 1860, by the ship Gananoque.
