M AURiCEVILLE WEST. After a thunderstorm on Sunday, juid a .sharp frost- this morning, the weather lias moderated ;i little, which is not before time, for there art' many crops of hay ifnliarvested still. The grass and turnip crops seem to have a good start for the autumn growth. .It 'is not expected that so many fat sheep will be turned out, owing to the wet weather. The Mauriceville County Council (have opened a new metal pit on Mr P. Morten sen's property, and a start is shortly to he made with metalling jioperations. About 700 yards will he j' required to complete the dressing for | the various roads. The high prices ruling for both pigs and calves are causing those by--products of the dairy to receive extra attention. . Some line-looking and well-bred young dairy heifers may he seen at every dairy, while on trucking day a very busy time is at hand, getting away some of the finest (bacon pigs raised for some distance, _ the iMauriceville baconers being widely known.

Tlie friends of Mr P. Hansen will be pleased to learn that he is practically out of danger, 'and his leg is mending as well as can be expected.

Mr Robertson preached in the Presbyterian Church on Sunday to a large congregation, and Mr Matt son occupied the pulpit in the Lutheran Church in the evening.
