EXTRAORDINARY MEETING. j An extraordinary?., meeting of the 1 ' .Wiorkinian's Friend Building Society J was held last evening in the Y.M.C.A < Rooms, witen. Mir W. H. Jackson presided over a good attendance. Be-fore-proceeding with the business the chairman took the opportunity to thank the members for having reelected him to the directorate. He ' stated that the business to come be- : fore the meeting was the considera-. I 5 turn of thie question of the alteration of the rules and the disposal of two ;«ums of £l6o'each,.free of interest, j ' "by sale. The; upset price had been -.."fixed at. £2O. per share,:'and fifteen,v . minutes would be allowed for tender-" -iug. .At the close of the allotted time the tenders , were opened, tlie liigiiest being £4l for" each £l5O, wmicih: was accepted. The question of the alteration of rules was discussed, -and it was pointed out that the cost of alterations, would he £5 5s for revising barristers' fees and "lOs for. registration. This meant ,;ihat no matter how-.'few rules were-"altered it would cost as much as ' a set of new rules, and it was.explained th-it the matter would be brought'b,e- , fore the Minister* with a vieSv'to hay- ' rg the charges reduced in cases such as the one under discussion.
